Sony Music Publishing has upped Maree Hamblion to SVP, International A&R.
Based in the company’s Australia office, Maree reports to MD, Scandinavia and SVP A&R, Europe Johnny Tennander and Managing Director, Australia Damian Trotter.
In her new position, Maree will head the international A&R efforts, sign and discover songwriters while creating new opportunities for the company’s roster across the globe.
While at SMP, Hamblion has inked numerous Australian songwriters such as Alex Hope, Sarah Aarons, Jarryd James, Gretta Ray, Sam Sakr, Rory Adams, Robby De Sa and more, including New Zealand songwriters Stan Walker, Alex Wildwood and Jawsh 685.
“Maree has long been a powerhouse of A&R within the Australian music publishing industry, having identified and developed many of its most successful songwriters,” shared Trotter.
“She has already done so much for the company, and with an increased international focus, she will continue to bring fantastic value to our A&R teams and roster around the world,” added Tennander.
“I look forward to continue working with Damian, who has been extremely supportive and encouraging over the last 7 years and I’m excited to work more closely with Johnny in our Scandinavian office, while also building upon my existing relationships with global affiliates,” said Hamblion.
At the beginning of her career, Hamblion spent more than two decades at EMI, inking the likes of Divinyls, Jimmy Barnes, Joel Little, Lindsay Rimes, Savage Garden, The Veronicas and more. Following EMI’s merger with Sony/ATV in 2012, Hamblion serves as Senior A&R Manager before being upped to Joint Head of A&R in 2015.
