AIMP L.A.'S HOLIDAY SPIRIT
11/12/20

The AIMP L.A. Chapter has named Primary Wave the recipient of its 2020 Indie Publisher of the Year Award and has recognized NSAI’s Executive Director Bart Herbison with the Individual Award in Support of Songwriters & Publishers.

“While COVID-19 has hugely impacted the world, Primary Wave Music and Bart Herbison have both worked hard to keep moving the independent music publishing industry forward, and we are proud to recognize them with our 2020 AIMP LA Awards,” shared Teri Nelson Carpenter, National Chair and L.A. Chapter President of the AIMP.

“This year, we learned that music is more important than ever. We are proud of our efforts on behalf of our songwriters and are looking forward to great things in 2021,” said Primary Wave Founder/CEO Lawrence Mestel. Herbison added, “While Nashville is proudly in our name, NSAI, like AIMP, impacts the rights of all publishers, songwriters, and rights-holders, no matter where they live.

Since forming Primary Wave nearly 15 years ago, Mestel has inked the likes of Olivia Newton-John, the Four Seasons, Ray Charles, Burt Bacharach, Allee Willis, Godsmack, Moody Blues and is also home to artists like Smokey Robinson, Whitney Houston, Bob Marley, Robbie Robertson and Alice Cooper, among others.

Herbison (pictured to the left), who oversees the NSAI’s 100-plus chapters on a global level, is also a member of the Board of Directors at The MLC, where plays a role in ensuring the implementation of the Music Modernization Act (MMA).

With a portion of proceeds benefiting the Linda Komorsky Liker AIMP Scholarship Award, the awards will be presented during AIMP L.A.’s virtual Holiday Award & Annual Meeting of Members on 12/3 at 5pm PT, followed by the results of the 2021 AIMP L.A. Chapter Board of Directors election. For more info and to attend the online event, click here.
