Warner Chappell Music has inked an exclusive worldwide publishing deal for the catalog of Stone Temple Pilot members Robert DeLeo, Dean DeLeo and Eric Kretz.
One of the biggest rock bands of the 1990s, STP “helped to define a distinct rock sound of a decade through their incredible songwriting and eclectic performances, ,” said Greg Sowders, Senior Vice President, A&R, U.S., Warner Chappell Music. “Their work has left an impact on American culture that continues to resonate today.”
The DeLeos and Kretz co-wrote the band’s material with the band’s late lead singer Scott Weiland in various configurations. Robert DeLeo and Weiland wrote “Interstate Love Song” and the Grammy-winning “Plush,” for example; the entire band wrote “Vaseline.”
“There’s no overstating the role Stone Temple Pilots played in developing the landmark sound of their era,” WCM President of A&R, U.S., Ryan Press noted. “But it’s the quality of their songwriting perhaps more than anything that has stood the test of time.”
