BORRINO'S NEW SPIRIT
4/18/19

Spirit Music Group has appointed Joe Borrino as CFO/COO. Borrino will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of SMG's financial and operational activities worldwide and will be based out of the company's NY headquarters.

The industry vet comes with years of experience in the biz, including an 18-year tenure at UMG, where he was named CFO of the Island/Def Jam Music Group during the height of the company’s success with acts such as Bon Jovi, The Killers, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Fall Out Boy and Rihanna.

Borrino was then recruited by Roc Nation chairman Jay-Z to help launch the world-class music company. As CFO for over six years, Borrino helped develop the Roc Nation Sports Agency in partnership with CAA, along with being a member of the team that established the Made In America festival.

Most recently, Borrino served at CFO of Avex International, where he led the development of the company’s US presence as an extension of its successful entertainment conglomerate in Tokyo.

SMG Chairman Jon Singer on the hire:“I have known Joe for over twenty years dating back to our days at Island Records and I’m confident he is the right person to lead Spirit in this next and most exciting chapter. He is a true professional with a well-rounded background and a wealth of experience on both the label and publishing sides of the business. Joe’s experience speaks for itself and we are thrilled he chose Spirit as his new home for years to come.”

Borrino joins a thriving, new era for SMG, as execs Singer and Ross Cameron formed Lyric Capital Group in January to take ownership of SMG and landed a recapitalization of over $350m.
