DIAZ TO RUN W/C MEXICO
11/8/18

Carlos Ruiz Díaz is taking over as Managing Director, Warner/Chappell Music Mexico, reporting to Gustavo Menendez, President, Warner/Chappell Music, Latin America.

With more than 25 years in the biz, Díaz joins Warner/Chappell from EMMACSACM, the Mexican one-stop agency for digital music copyright licensing, where he had served as Managing Director since 2013. In that role, Díaz led all negotiation, signing, and administration of licenses across services such as Apple, Google and Spotify—working with the Mexican Collecting Society (SACM) and the Mexican Music Publishers Association (EMMAC).

“Carlos has a deep sense and appreciation for music that our songwriters will recognize instantly, and our A&R efforts will benefit from,” said Menendez. “What’s beneath that is a dynamic background in finance and operations, which comes through in his sharp instinct and business acumen, and really sets him apart as a leader.”

In his career Díaz has served as VP/GM of UMG’s Disa Records, Director of Finance and Operations at UMG Mexico, and Managing Director of Peerless-MCM, a WMG company.

“I have been in this business a long time, and I’ve never seen Spanish-language songs rivaling English-language songs on the charts the way that they have in the last year,” said Díaz. “It’s a historic moment for Latin music, including regional Mexican music, and I’m delighted to join a company that’s leading the charge.”
