To what extent/degree are your writers working on projects outside of the country genre? What has been the most surprising development in the sector, from your perspective?
The growth of international touring and streaming hasn’t been a real surprise, but a major development in country music. There has been a real proliferation of artists and songwriters crossing over to and leading the crossover of country music. Case in point, our writer, Bebe Rexha’s hit ‘Meant To Be’ with Florida Georgia Line—right now, that song is unstoppable. The lines continue to blur in Nashville. Music comes from everywhere but we’re seeing more and more artists and songwriters looking to come here and get involved. It’s a vibrant community unlike anywhere else and it shows, here in the industry and on the charts.
