SONY/ATV WINS BIG AT SOCAN AWARDS
6/22/18

Sony/ATV had a very successful night at The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) awards in Toronto.

Our Lady Peace won the National Achievement Award along with SOCAN Classic Music Awards for their songs "Somewhere Out There", "Innocent", "Clumsy" and "Superman's Dead". Pictured in the photo above are (l-r) Duncan Coutts (Our Lady Peace), Aidan D’Aoust (SOCAN ), Gary Furniss (Sony/ATV Canada President), Arnold Lanni (songwriter/Our Lady Peace producer), David Quilico (Sony/ATV Canada Vice President, Creative) and Widney Bonfils (SOCAN).

No moose were harmed in the taking of the above photo, unless you count the one that has a thing for Gary. Hey, you try to come up with multiple Canadian jokes in a single week.

Adam Feeny aka Frank Dukes won Songwriter of the Year. He also took home awards for "Havana" (Pop Music Award), "Congratulations" and "Fake Love" (Rap Music Awards).

Other Sony/ATV winners included Alessia Cara, who won the International Achievement Award as well as the International Song Award and a Dance Music Award for “Stay”, Daniel Caesar who won the Breakout Award, Drake who won a Rap Music Award for “Fake Love” and Shawn Mendes collaborator Geoff Warburton who won a Pop Music Award for “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back”.
