Indie house Superior Music Publishing is celebrating a trio of new deals. The jewel of these is the inking new-wave darlings The Suburbs (who were the first signing to legendary Twin/Tone Records); it's the first-ever pub deal signed by primary songwriter Chan Poling in the band's 40-year history.
Superior has also inked pop tunesmith Marc Nelkin, whose work has been covered by Kesha, LP, Cher, Charlie Wilson and more, as well as genre-bender MC Lars, whose madly referential work spans high and low culture and has earned him a rep as one of the most culturally literate rappers around.
Says pubco prez/founder Mara Schwartz Kuge: "Superior couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with this acclaimed and diverse group of writers, and we look forward to the new opportunities we’ll be creating together. And no, I won't put your band's sticker on my car."
