Superstar songwriter/producer and publisher Shane McAnally has re-upped his pub pact with Kobalt. The worldwide deal give the company admin duties for all of McAnally’s back catalogue and future works, and continues its deal with his pubco, SmackSongs (Josh Osborne, Matt Ramsey, Walker Hayes and more).
McAnally has written or co-written no fewer than 28 #1 Country hits, including Sam Hunt’s indefatigable “Body Like a Back Road,” not to mention works with Kenny Chesney, Thomas Rhett, Kelsea Ballerini, Brandy Clark, Kacey Musgraves, Midland and Old Dominion. He and manager Jason Owen relaunched Monument Records earlier this year.
“I trust their expertise, appreciate their business model and just love their staff,” the hitmakers said of Kobalt, while the publisher’s Nashville GM, Jesse Willoughby praised McAnally as “one of the most influential writers in Nashville” who “is continually pushing the boundaries, not only as a writer/producer but as a businessman as well."
Rumors that a follow-up song titled "Body Like a Hazardous Waste Dump" was being penned about a member of our editorial staff couldn't be confirmed at presstime.
