The team behind the hit podcast series And the Writer Is… hosted a season two kickoff party Wednesday night at the iconic, recently reopened Sound City Studios. Remarkably, hundreds of songwriters and music-biz execs schlepped all the way to Van Nuys to attend the shindig.

Host Ross Golan and co-producer Joe London announcing the lineup for the new season, which had premiered earlier in the day. The first episode was Golan’s interview with Jack Antonoff, who’s recently penned hits with Taylor Swift, Lorde, St. Vincent and his own Bleachers. Golan and London were then presented gold plaques in recognition of the podcast’s first-season tally of 500k+ downloads.

Season two will feature Julia Michaels, Charlie Puth, Claude Kelly, Dan Wilson, Sir Nolan, Babyface, Lindy Robbins, Mike Posner, David Isrealite and a special country music week featuring Thomas Rhett, busbee, Nicolle Galyon, Ashley Gorley and Zach Crowell.

In attendance was a who’s who of hit songwriters, including season one guests Benny Blanco, J Kash, Sean Douglas, Jason Evigan, Bonnie McKee, Ricky Reed, John Ryan, Simon Wilcox and Ali Tamposi. Also making the scene were Dave Palmer, FIDLAR’s Zac Carper, Julia Michaels and members of podcast partners Big Deal Music Group and Mega House Music, as well managers, agents and publishers and reps from Apple Music, Pandora and YouTube.

And the Writer Is… releases new episodes every Tuesday and is available to stream or download at www.andthewriteris.com, iHeartRadio, iTunes, Spotify and other podcast platforms.
