Pub Crawling
THESE AIN'T PLATT-ITUDES
9/18/17

Just in time for Jon Platt’s second anniversary as CEO/Chairman of Warner/Chappell, the pubbery just happens to be en fuego worldwide.

W/C writers are on five of the Top 10 records at Top 40 radio, nine of the Top 10 at Rhythm, eight of the Top 10 at Urban and five of the Top 10 at Alternative.

In addition to its U.S. successes (with A&R duo Katie Vinten and Ryan Press scoring regularly), the company has seen gains worldwide. Its marketshare in Germany (under Lars Karlsson) grew 6.6% in the first half of this year (powered by key urban signings there), and there’s been marketshare growth in the U.K. as well, with Platt hire Mike Smith running the show. The Brit outpost has also got writers on five of the Top 10 this week, and at midyear no fewer than 17 W/C tunesmiths graced the Top 40. The French office, meanwhile (led by Caroline Molko), enjoys—ooh la la—seven of the Top 10.

These various international departments have also expressed vigorous agreement that they'd rather we didn't visit.
