Fast-growing U.S. pubco Reservoir has further bolstered its stable of copyrights with the acquisition of rock label Century Media’s publishing catalogue. The deal is hot on the heels of buying a stake in Big Life’s 3k+ copyrights, and brings its total number to 100k+.
Born in Germany, Century Media is known for working with metal, progressive rock, indie and punk rock artists. Its writer roster includes Arch Enemy, Architects,Devin Townsend, Deicide, Iced Earth, In This Moment, Lacuna Coil, Shadows Fall, Spock’s Beard and Suicide Silence, among others. The label arm of Century was bought by Sony in 2015.
As part of the new deal, Reservoir SVP of Creative and A&R, Hussain “Spek” Yoosuf, will oversee creative development for the roster of songwriters, with support from Reservoir’s team in N.Y., L.A. and London.
“This acquisition of Century Media’s publishing arm reaffirms our commitment to diversifying our music catalog and expanding Reservoir’s international offerings,” said Reservoir COO Rell Lafargue. “We look forward to welcoming Century Media’s songwriters into the Reservoir family. And may I add, my giant collection of copyrights will render me virtually immortal."
