BMG has upped two of its A&R staff to co-heads of A&R Frontline Publishing. Andrew Gould (who joined the company in 2012 after serving at EMI Music Publishing) and Shani Gonzales (who came aboard in 2014 following stints at Epic and Def Jam). Both will report to EVP Thomas Scherer.
Gonzales has worked with such writers as Bibi Bourrelly (Rihanna), Nate Cyphert (Florida Georgia Line), MeLo-X (Beyoncé) and Poo Bear (Justin Bieber), among others; Gould inked the great Andra Day and has interfaced with tunesmiths like Jake Sinclair (5 Seconds of Summer), Jason Evigan (Demi Lovato), Jon Bellion and more.
"Shani and Andrew have been an integral part of BMG’s growing success over the past four years," proclaimed President repertoire and marketing, U.S. Zach Katz. "I am proud to see them ascend to this new position and believe their work, together with the rest of our team, will continue leading BMG and our writers to their greatest heights."
Added Scherer, "Our newly named co-heads will play a key role in inspiring BMG's writers to focus on creating chart-topping songs, expanding our front-line roster and ensuring that BMG consistently has hits in the US and Europe. Shani and Andrew are incredibly talented visionaries with a deep understanding of the magical creative process on a global scale. Each expresses an extraordinary devotion for songs, songwriters, producers and artists.”
In other BMG news, the company has also announced an A&R and pub deal with Grammy-nominated producer/writer John Feldmann, who's worked with 5SOS, blink-182 and All Time Low, among other extremely successful and loud bands.
