MARTIN INKS WITH VEL
8/16/16

NYC-based indie Vel Records has signed a publishing deal with Andrea Martin—the singer/songwriter/producer who was tapped by Baz Luhrmann to pen two tracks for 2013's The Great Gatsby and recently reunited with the filmmaker for the score of the much-talked-about Netflix series The Get Down. The drama, which takes place in 1970s NYC and centers around the birth of hip-hop, premiered 8/12 to much critical acclaim.

Of course, Martin is well-known in the songwriting world for an array of #1 songs, including Monica's "Before You Walk Out of My Life," SWV's "You're the One," En Vogue's "Don't Let Go (Love)," Leona Lewis' "Better In Time" and Melanie Fiona's "It Kills Me."

That said, she's also successfully collaborated with the likes of Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, Jennifer Hudson, Pusha T, Naughty Boy (with Wiz Khalifa and Ella Eyre), Paloma Faith and other R&B and pop faves.
