When the Olympics are in Rio, it's good to be the publisher with the Antônio Carlos Jobim catalog, including but definitely not limited to "The Girl From Ipanema," not to mention fellow Brazilian great Vinicius de Moraes. So the folks at UMPG are understandably dancing a celebratory bossa nova just now.
The works of these seminal composers transformed world pop and jazz when they hit the scene in the 60s, and their music is all over the Rio games, with special visibility at the opening and closing ceremonies. Indeed, none other than Gisele sashayed down the runway to the immortal "Girl From Ipanema." You'll also be hearing some of this Brazilian standards during gymnastics routines and other moments.
