We have no fucking idea.
COUNTRY'S NEWEST DISRUPTOR
Three chords and some truth you may not be ready for.
AI IS ALREADY EATING YOUR LUNCH
The kids can tell the difference... for now.
WHO'S BUYING THE DRINKS?
That's what we'd like to know.

I miss live music, and last week, I also missed the in-real-life Grammy Awards and IRL Grammy Awards parties—the virtual versions are not nearly as much fun. Here’s hoping things get fully back to normal in 2022. We are a quarter of the way through 2021 already, and Glass Animals, at least, have a “real” gig in September (more on that below), so…
Interscope’s Romano and Lopes have a lot to celebrate this week as Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” (Geffen) holds down the #1 spot on the chart for what looks to be a third consecutive week. They also have Billie Eilish’s “Therefore I Am” (Darkroom) stampeding into the Top 3 and Machine Gun Kelly’s “my ex’s best friend” f/blackbearentering the Top 10. You’d think that would be enough… but wait—there’s more! Romano and Lopes had a huge impact week with Maroon 5’s “Beautiful Mistakes” f/Megan Thee Stallion, which pulled in 145 stations. Make no mistake, the Maroon/Megan track claimed #1 Most Added honors. It’s already Top 25.
Republic’s Spangler and Romeo, meanwhile, have moved The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears” (XO) into the Top 10 with help from big spin increases at WIHT, WHYI, WPOW and KDWB. After a six-week Rhythm run at #1, Pop Smoke’s “What You Know Bout Love” (Victor Victor) is preparing to penetrate the Pop Top 10. Glass Animals—who, it was recently announced, will perform at the Life Is Beautiful festival in Las Vegas 9/17-19—continue to build a big story at Pop with “Heat Waves,” scoring back-to-back #1 Most Added weeks. “Waves” is presently in the Top 20. Depend on this one to ascend further. Currently Top 10 at Hot AC, Taylor Swift’s “willow” is headed for the Pop Top 15. Conan Gray’s “Overdrive” is gearing up to grace the Top 30, having acquired new airplay from HITS1, Z100, KAMP and KHKS. JESSIA’s “I’m not Pretty” is chartbound with 40+ early stations.
In2une’s Connone and Lucek keep stacking the adds on Daya’s “Bad Girl”; it’s in the Top 10 Most Added column for a fourth consecutive week. Destined for the Top 30, it has 90+ stations spinning.
Warner’s Chester, Dyer and Reich impacted Bebe Rexha’s “Sacrifice” as a Top 3 Most Added track this week, lassoing 44 stations out of the box, including KAMP, B96 and WNRG. Dua Lipa’s “We’re Good” is now Top 15—the panel is closed—as Saweetie’s “Best Friend” f/Doja Cat shows the Top 25 who’s boss with 135+ stations on board.
Mom+Pop’s Team Jacobs launched Ashe & FINNEAS’ “Till Forever Falls Apart,” one of the week’s Most Added tracks. It’s on 80+ Spotify playlists, included Pop Rising, with support from Music Choice, KZHT and HITS1. “This track is emotionally connecting, sweet, tender and real,” said the latter outlet’s Alex Tear. “It’s time to give into those feels folks.” Indeed, do not fight the feels.
RCA’s Rothschild, Maldonado, JR and Daddio have Tate McRae’s “you broke me first” poised to break into the Top 5; it moves into Power and SubPower rotation pretty much everywhere. SZA’s “Good Days” (TDE) is approaching the Top 30 with new adds from KMXV, WNRG and XHTZ. “Days” is also Top 5 on Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits. Scoring 50+ stations, G-Eazy’s “Provide” f/Chris Brown & Mark Morrison is chart-ready with 16m global streams. Doja Cat’s “Streets” has posted adds at 40 early stations, among them KMVQ, WWPW, KYLD and Y100.
S-Curve/BMG’s Anderson and Leipsner, collaborating with Hollywood’s Team Finck, put AJR’s “Way Less Sad” back into the Top 10 Most Added this week with 11 new stations, including KALV, WEZB and WAPE. There are 60+ stations on this one—it’s Top 30-bound after just two weeks.
Over at Epic, Sackheim, Afloarei and Dimig are closing the panel on Travis Scott & HVME’s “Goosebumps (Remix)” as it marches into the Top 15 with big streams and research far and wide. Black Eyed Peas’ “Girl Like Me” f/Shakira is Top 25 at the moment, with 150m+ streams to date. Zara Larsson is looking to light up the Top 30 with “Talk About Love” f/Young Thug, currently on 105+ stations, HITS1, WBLI and KYLD included.
Columbia’s Gray, Burruss, Bedard, Stevens and Brenner (a good name for a law firm if anyone needs one) have Ritt Momney’s “Put Your Records On” in the Top 5 this week with a trip further up the chart in its future. Angling to enter the Top 15, The Kid LAROI’s “WITHOUT YOU” is once again a Greatest Gainer, enjoying a spectacular 1000+ spin advance. Columbia and RECORDS’ Strazza have Nelly & Florida Georgia Line’s “Lil Bit” two-stepping into the Top 30 with help from WKSC, WIOQ, KBFF and KBKS.
Music We Love: Duncan Laurence’s “Arcade” (Capitol)
Wyn Starks’ “Circles” (Sidewalk/Curb)
