POP MART

It’s 2016 and hard to get back in the groove. NFL Playoffs, the beginning of Mardi Gras and the National Championship Game are all pulling at me, but unlike years past, the majors are cranking out new singles in early January and it’s off to the races right off the bat, so focus we MUST.

Epic’s Team Glassman came charging out the gate with a new track from Travi$ Scott, “Antidote” (Grand Hustle), which is currently sitting at #30 and closing in on 100 stations with WBMP, KIIS, KAMP and KHKS leading the charge. Kevin Weatherly says “Travi$ Scott has quietly been building a very loyal following and is on the verge of being one of the next breakout artists. ‘Antidote’ sounds great on AMP!” Meanwhile, Meghan Trainor f/John Legend ‘s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” has moved Top 5 and it’s climbing. AudioDamn!’s “Radar” is impacting this week and already has about 30 stations on the board.

Warner Bros.Gray, Dyer, Reich & Shih also came out swinging with another huge add week on Jason Derulo’s “Get Ugly” (Beluga Heights) and moved the track Top 25. Impacting this week is Lukas Graham’s “7 Years.” Look for that one to be at the top of the add board… Artbeatz/Red’s Buch, Halpern & Weil continue to move Daya’s “Hideaway” up the chart as the track continues to Shazam, see great callout and post big sales numbers each week. Also look for several upcoming Network TV appearances and/or performances in the coming weeks.

Hollywood’s Finck, Smith & Ennis are off to a big start with their new project, Shawn Hook’s “Sound of Your Heart,” which was in the Most Added column last week, pulling in 50+ stations, including WIOQ, WPOW, KZHT and KKRZ.

Def Jam’s Sackheim, Rothschild & Farag are also strong out of the gate, as Alessia Cara’s “Here” moves Top 3 and looks bound for the top of the chart. The breakout single is now certified double-platinum. Follow-up “Wild Things” is set to impact 2/2. Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” (RBMG) just joined the Top 10 at #8 after only five weeks on the chart, as he continues his hot streak.

At Columbia, Leipsner, Borris & Vaughan come into the New Year with Adele still exploding. “When We Were Young” is closing in on the Top 15. With big rotation increases coming from KRBE, WKST and WIOQ, along with new adds at KDWB, Z90 and KNOU, this one shows no signs of slowing down. The Chainsmokers f/Rozes’ “Roses” moves Top 10 this week, as SiriusXM Hits 1, WWMX, KZHT and many other all move it up in rotation. One Direction’s “Perfect” (SYCO) is also trending upward as it moves to #12 and sets its sights on the Top 10. Rachel Platten’s “Stand by You” officially charted and is currently at #33. She’ll be all over TV with appearances scheduled on The Today Show, The Late Late Show and The Talk over the next few days.

Republic’s CW, Spangler & Russell are, as always, kicking out new hits. They’re now focusing in on Dawin f/Silento’s “Dessert,” which is about to be certified gold and is chartbound out of the box. As for Taylor Swift, “Out of the Woods” (Big Machine) debuted at #27 this week and closed out the panel on impact. The Weeknd’s “In the Night” (XO) is at #6 and charging to the top of the chart, while Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello’s “I Know What You Did Last…” (Island) moves to #15 after three weeks at the top of the add board. Mendes, by the way, was recently dubbed Fave Breakout Artist at the People’s Choice Awards. DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean” is Top 10 SNOL, #13 Shazam and #18 in airplay this week. Fall Out Boy f/Demi Lovato’s “Irresistible” (DCD2/Island) jumped to #22 this week, and they’ve already pulled in 4.5m instant views on the new video. Post Malone’s “White Iverson,” on the other hand, is #1 at Rhythm this week, while it moves to #29 on the Pop chart. Leaders include KAMP, KMVQ, WODS and WKQI.

RCA’s Riccitelli, JR, Daddio & Cooper kicked off the New Year in the Most Added column with G-Eazy f/Bebe Rexha’s “Me Myself & I.” Early believers include WZMP, WBMP, KZON and KEGY. R. City f/Chloe Angelides’ “Make Up” recently charted, pulling in new adds from WPOW, WNVZ and WFBC. As for one that’s ready to chart, there are now more than 60 stations on Justin Timberlake’s “Drink You Away” with new help from KSLZ, WNCI and WKSE. Tinashe f/Chris Brown’s “Player” continues to pull in stations. With 90+ on board, the track debuted at #34. Chris Brown’s new track, “Zero,” however, is about to move Top 30 with KZON, Z90 and WNVZ coming on board this week.

Over at Capitol, Rainey, Youngblood & Siciliano continue to grow radio favorite Tori Kelly’s “Hollow.” The track moves Top 25 this week, pulling in new airplay from WFLC, WWST and WKZL just as big rotation increases come in from KUDD, WXXL and Hits 1. Next up will be Troye Sivan’s “Youth,” which is set to impact 1/18. There are already 60+ stations spinning it early…

MUSIC WE LOVE: Troye Sivan’s “Youth” (Capitol), Zara Larsson & MNEK’s “Never Forget You” (TEN).
