RCA Breaks a Mediabase Record; Republic Cranks Out Something

Well, did you watch the 57th Annual Grammy Awards? There were some outstanding performances, a few surprises and, yes, a Kanye moment. I mean, what would an awards show be without all of those things?! And you know you laughed! The folks over at Capitol are all smiles this morning after their big night. Reese, Rainey, Youngblood and Siciliano are launching two big tracks this week with Grammy winner Sam Smith’s latest single, “Lay Me Down,” and iHeart On the Verge artist Tori Kelly’s “Nobody Love,” all while continuing to grow Ne-Yo f/Juicy J’s “She Knows” (Motown).

Speaking of Kanye, Def Jam’s Sackheim, Chester, Rothschild and Farag had a great night too with a much talked about performance of Rihanna, Kanye & Paul McCartney’s smash, “FourFiveSeconds,” which is already Top 20 and climbing. Meanwhile, Kanye’s “Only One” is bubbling just under and looking to chart; new this week are KIIS, Y100 and KMVQ. Up next is Axwell ^ Ingrosso’s “Something New,” impacting next week with early adds already in from WFLC, WDZH and WRNW. The track is featured in the Beats #SoloSelfie commercial, which has earned close to 17m views.

Republic
’s CW, Spangler and Russell have Taylor Swift’s latest single, “Style” (Big Machine) moving inside the Top 10 and headed to the top again. Nick Jonas’ “Chains” (Island) climbs inside the Top 30 and picks up new airplay from WNTQ, WBLI and WFLC. Natalie La Rose f/Jeremih’s “Somebody” (IMG) has already joined the Top 30; WKFS, B97 and WXKS are all early believers. Tove Lo’s “Talking Body” (Island) and Jessie J’s “Masterpiece” are building great airplay stories and climbing the chart already. One of the next up on Republic’s plate is a Scooter Braun/Scott Borchetta signing that has everyone talking; check out Who Is Fancy’s “Goodbye.” SVP Programming CBS Michael Martin says, “We played it as soon as we got it. That’s how excited we are about it! Sounds extraordinary on the air. Everyone wants to know Who Is Fancy????”

Warner Bros.Gray, Dyer and Reich charted with Priory’s “Weekend,” which picked up increased airplay from WRVQ, WKSE and KKRZ. Echosmith’s “Bright” launched last week and it’s ready to chart this week with new airplay from WNFN, KDIS, KIIS and WDCG.

RCA’s Riccitelli, JR, Strazza, Daddio and Cooper are still in control of the #1 slot on the chart and, as of this week, Mark Ronson set the new Mediabase One Week All Time Spin record with 18,220 plays. The previous record holder was Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” with 18,009 plays. Pitbull f/Ne-Yo “Time of Our Lives” jumps into the Top 10, while Prince Royce f/Snoop Dogg’s “Stuck on a Feeling” moves to #16. Usher f/Juicy J’s “I Don’t Mind” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat Song” both move up and are looking to make that Top 20 jump. Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” impacts this week with early believers in KBKS, KDWB and WDZH just to name a few of the majors.

Epic’s Todd Glassman has Megan Trainor’s “Lips Are Movin” moving up to #4 and aiming for the top of the chart. Zara Larsson launched last week with 25 adds in its first week, including WKSE, KJYO and WFBC.

Columbia
’s Leipsner, Borris and Vaughan are screaming from the rooftops about the new callout on One Direction’s “Night Changes” (SYCO) and have picked up increased airplay from KIIS, WBLI, WNKS and WLDI. After just two weeks, Olly Murs f/Travie McCoy’s “Wrapped Up” is on 40+ stations and chart-bound. Ella Henderson is poised to join the Top 10 with “Ghost” (SYCO), while Calvin Harris f/Ellie Goulding’s “Outside,” which has over 60m views on its video, moves inside the Top 20. LunchMoney Lewis’ “Bills” (Kemosabe) has picked up some impressive early call letters, including Z100, KIIS, WPOW and KHTS to name a few; this one is going to blow up!

Music we love: Kalin & Myles' “Trampoline” (Republic), Andy Grammer's “Honey, I’m Good” (S-Curve)
