JOAN JETT SELLS CATALOG TO SEEKER MUSIC
Kenny Laguna, Carianne Brinkman, Joan Jett and Evan Bogart don't give a darn about HITS' bad reputation (Brandon Young).
Joan Jett and her Blackheart company have sold a "substantial share" of their publishing and recorded music rights to Evan Bogart's Seeker Music.
The deal will aim to elevate Jett's catalog through the release of unheard music, activations around touring activity and reissues of vintage albums.
It's something of a full-circle moment for the principals, in that Bogart's late father Neil signed Jett in the late 1970s and released her hit single “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll” on his Boardwalk Records label. Blackheart, in turn, is now run by principal Kenny Laguna's daughter Carianne Brinkman.
"I can't imagine a better partnership that is at once completely new but a return to a shared legacy that began with the belief in Joan Jett and the Blackhearts," Brinkman said. "Evan and Seeker mirror our ideals in honoring authenticity while facing forward and I'm excited to see what this partnership will bring.”
"Seeker joining forces with Joan, Kenny, Carianne and Blackheart isn't just a partnership, it's a personal, powerful reunion," added Bogart, whose Seeker owns copyrights by everyone from Christopher Cross and Run the Jewels to Mark Morrison's "Return of the Mack."
Meanwhile, no dimes were improperly put into the jukebox during the writing of this story, baby.
