Yahoo's Thompson Steps Down
May 14, 2012
YAHOO CHIEF RESIGNS: That was quick. After less than six months on the job, Yahoo Chief Executive Scott Thompson will step down, largely as a result of the furor over his false claim that he had a computer science degree. The company said he is leaving for "personal reasons" and will be replaced by Ross Levinsohn, the company’s head of global media. It was also revealed the 54-year-old, who took the job in January from his post as President of eBay’s PayPal, has cancer. Yahoo's board is nearing a settlement with Daniel Loeb of Third Point, the man who discovered the faked resume and is an activist shareholder, to replace five current Yahoo board directors with his company’s personal choices.
