Organizers of the 2028 Olympics are eyeing pgLang/Interscope's Kendrick Lamar to be part of the games when they land in L.A.
During a meeting with the International Olympic Committee on Thursday (3/20), they also discussed how they would help rebuild after the wildfires.
"The rebirth, the rebuild, maybe the reimagining of L.A. 2.0—and the Olympics as a catalyst for all those things—we think is really part of our ethos," Organizing Committee Chairman Casey Wasserman told the Associated Press. "You can't have a natural disaster at that scale in a city as big and as important as Los Angeles and not have it be part of your core philosophy going forward."
"Fortunately, in my day job, I represent Kendrick Lamar," Wasserman added. "He is truly an L.A. icon, so I think it would be a pretty fair bet that he will be involved in the Olympics in Los Angeles in some way."
Following a highly publicized rap battle with Drake, Lamar released the chart-topping album GNX, won multiple Grammys for "Not Like Us"—including Song of the Year—and performed at the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show. If battle-rapping were an Olympic sport, we're willing to bet he'd take gold. We, on the other hand, always seem to get a shot put in the nads.
