Karkwa Takes Polaris

CANADIAN CONTENT: Karkwa was named the winner of the fifth annual Polaris Music Prize given to the best Canadian album of the year, taking home $20,000 for their French language album Les Chemins de Verre. Previous winners include Fucked Up (2009), Caribou (2008), Patrick Watson (2007) and Final Fantasy (2006). Their win is the first for a French language album. Other nominees included Broken Social Scene, Radio Radio, The Sadies, Shad and Tegan and Sara, among others. (9/21p)
