Billy Zarro has been upped to SVP of Marketing at Island Records, while Jermi Thomas is hired as Senior Director of A&R and Ben Maddahi joins the label as A&R consultant.
At Island Records, Billy Zarro has been upped to SVP of Marketing, while Jermi Thomas is hired as Senior Director of A&R and Ben Maddahi joins the label as A&R consultant.
In his new gig, Zarro will oversee the Island marketing department while continuing to spearhead campaigns for such artists as Nick Jonas and Elton John, as well as developing artists including Bishop Briggs and Olivia O'Brien. He’ll be reporting to GM/EVP Eric Wong.
Thomas joins the company following four years as at BMG’s publishing division, where he signed Juicy J, Rook Monroe (Rihanna, Usher), Victoria Monet (Ariana Grande), Edsclusive (Fat Joe’s "All the Way Up"), Bibi Bourelly (Rihanna, Selena Gomez), Verse Simmonds (Kanye West, Jay Z, Rihanna) and newcomer Jessie Reyez. He began his A&R career at Columbia. He reports to label head David Massey.
Maddahi was previously President of indie pubco APG; he also worked on the label side at Atlantic. He continues to run Unrestricted, his A&R consulting company, which also manages writer/producer Frank E. He also worked with Charlie Puth on the Grammy-nominated Wiz Khalifa/Fast 8 smash "See You Again"and global hits for Flo Rida, David Guetta, Pittbull, Enrique Iglesias, Ariana Grande and Chris Brown, among others.
