Capitol Records has set 6/22 as the release date for the third studio album from 5 Seconds of Summer, Youngblood. The title track will be released Thursday.
5SOS will perform “Want You Back,” the first single from Youngblood, on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, the night before performing at Irving Plaza, part of a 14-city club tour in April.
Modest! Management has them heading out on a larger tour will begin 8/27 in Toronto and wrap 10/12 at the Greek in L.A.; they play Nashville Municipal Auditorium on 9/24. Tickets for the 25-city tour go on sale Friday and each ticket purchased for the Meet You There Tour includes a copy of the new album.
The band has also released a video for “Want You Back” (see below) as well as a remix and an acoustic version.
Vocalist/guitarist Luke Hemmings explains, “Growing up is what we had to do on Youngblood. Seven years as a band may seem like a long time, but we were teenagers when we started. We had to look at each other and say, ‘Are we going to stop now, or do this forever? Because if we continue, then we have to go farther than we ever have before.’”
