FLATIRON PREPS SWEET RELIEF RELEASE FOR RECORD STORE DAY
Flatiron Recordings has announced the release of Sweet Relief—We Can Help!, featuring music by Ben Harper and Peter Case, Sixpence None the Richer and Lucinda Williams, among others. Proceeds will go to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, which provides services and financial assistance to musicians and industry professionals.
A limited number of vinyl copies can be had on Record Store Day (4/12), with the project hitting DSPs on 6/20.
Flatiron has dropped lead single “Hallelujah! I’m a Bum," initially recorded by Harry McClintock in 1928 and reimagined by Michael Penn and Aimee Mann.
"I’ve known Victoria Williams since 1990, when we were on tour together," said Penn. "I was around when she founded Sweet Relief and I’ve tried to support and help out in any way I can. Sweet Relief, and independent organizations like it, shouldn’t need to exist in a nation as wealthy as ours, but thank God they do. We need to look after each other. That’s what it’s all about."
