THE DEAD RIDE AGAIN ON 60-CD LIVE BOXED SET

March 12, 2025

What do you get the Grateful Dead fan who has, well, everything? Look no further than Enjoying the Ride, a 60-CD boxed set due 5/30 from Dead.net in honor of the band's 60th anniversary.

The project rounds up more than 450 live selections drawn from 20 different venues between 1969 and 1994, including such Dead staples as Winterland in San Francisco, Madison Square Garden in New York and Red Rocks outside Denver. 17 concerts are presented in their entirety.

At $599.98, its retail price is as hefty as its track list. For a taste of three songs recorded 7/13/1984 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California, click here. If you'd like a diet version of Enjoying the Ride, Rhino.com will offer the three-CD or six-LP distillation The Music Never Stopped, also on 5/30.

"Going to see the Grateful Dead and following them from city to city was likened to the modern equivalent of running away from home to join the circus," said longtime Dead archivist David Lemieux, who helped produce the boxed set. "These 20 venues are where the circus took us, and the show was something we never wanted to miss.”

The aforementioned Berkeley concert was the first Dead show for future Rhino President Mark Pinkus, who said, "It marked the start of a continuing journey for me. I'm willing to bet there are many shows in this fantastic set that will resonate with fans who also found community on the road. I'm forever honored to work alongside David and the Grateful Dead to keep this long, strange trip alive.”

If you need HITS, we'll be having a light acid flashback in the corner while shimmying to "Estimated Prophet."
