THIS WEEKEND PHOTO GALLERY IS WANDERING IN THE DESERT

April 12, 2025

Nothing says "weekend getaway" like hurtling across a scorching, arid landscape in hopes of getting a wristband in time to schmooze for 27 minutes in an air-conditioned space before hustling back to a holding area to get a wristband to get into a show on an outdoor stage in mind-melting temperatures, leaving after song four and hailing a golf cart to schlep across the parched sunscape in time to catch a show at the Fahrenheit 451 Stage or whateverthefuck. So how do the industry machers pictured herein make it look so easy-peasy? Answer: They're professionals. Let's gawk at their pretty faces.

“I say, old bean, it’s rather, um, warm here,” observes Capitol Music Group Chairman/CEO Tom March to Interscope Capitol overlord John Janick during this casual-attire photo op at Coachella 2024. “Is there, perhaps, an industrial freezer I could occupy until nightfall?” Fortunately, the gin popsicles arrived imminently. Seen trying to remember who goes out in the noonday sun are (l-r) Capitol President Lillia Parsa, Janick, Interscope Capitol Vice Chairman Steve Berman and March.

At a Grammy on the Hill gathering to support the reintroduction of the No Fakes Act (designed to protect good old human creation from unscrupulous AI), Recording Academy boss Harvey Mason Jr. grabs a photo op with one of the last living exponents of pro-human governance, legislative legend Rep. Nancy Pelosi. She helpfully explained that an initial vote would be taken after Congress finished debating a bill to ban dancing.

"Remember," cautioned Warner Co-Chairman/COO Tom Corson while orchestrating this Taste of Hope 2025 tableau, "dignity above all else. So when you say 'cheese' for this photo, think of an austere Tyrolean grey." Meanwhile, Warner's Joan Gil, artist Dasha and the label's Josh Reich and Sara Habibi wondered if "tariff" was a tasting note.

No, Mercury's Post Malone didn't bring his eight diamond awards with him to Coachella, but Republic boss Monte Lipman and Mercury co-topper Tyler Arnold are looking after them for him. In other Posty news, he's bringing an extra truck for the Bud Lights.

"I'm having a fabulous time," noted AEG Presents' Jim King to colleague Shawn Trell and boss Jay Marciano as this quaint Coachella colloquy was committed to pixels. "But can you direct me to the tea-and-bickies truck?"

In 2023 Karen Glauber joined Mike Dirnt, Billie Joe Armstrong and Tré Cool of present Coachella headliner Green Day for a photo and a Talmudic discussion of Duane Eddy's influence on The Buzzcocks. Later, KG explained that HITS is the original "Dookie."

Super-attorney Eric Greenspan explained how he organizes his spreadsheets of Grateful Dead set lists to Goldenvoice boss and desert king Paul Tollett, who listened patiently while mentally escaping to his happy place, which was mere yards away.

iHeart's John Sykes and Lisa Worden flank Pelle Almqvist of The Hives, whose new single, “Enough Is Enough,” is sparking joy among Alternative programmers. Speaking of hives, we're told we give them to a lot of people.

The magnificent Lady Gaga, currently rocking Coachella, is seen here sporting a warm-weather look while posing with attorney supreme Allen Grubman and the late, great Tony Bennett. In related news, Grubman once left his briefcase in San Francisco.

City of Hope honoree and Warner Co-Chairman/COO Tom Corson was joined by Co-Chairman/CEO Aaron Bay-Schuck and their label posse for a tour of COH's Duarte, California, campus, where they learned about the org's incredible work fighting dread diseases. And because Laura Swanson was there, you can bet they got Warner's 850th trade pic of the week! Meanwhile, GM Mike Chester found out how far they were from the nearest decent sushi and wept quietly.

HITS Chief Content Officer and armchair ornithologist Simon Glickman is seen here marshaling a Harris hawk, a species known as "the wolf of the sky" for its ferocious hunting prowess. Coincidentally, Simon is known as "the shlimazel of the trade circuit." Later, the raptor deposited some content squarely on his hat.
