PRIMARY WAVE'S LEGENDARY CATALOG SPURS TALK OF "MINI-MAJOR"

Larry Mestel and team are celebrating enormous growth at Primary Wave, which recently passed $4.5b in asset value. It has done so by being the world’s biggest owner of legendary music—by which we mean the work of such legends as Prince, Bob Marley, James Brown, Smokey Robinson, Whitney Houston, Ray Charles, Sly Stone, Bing Crosby, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Stevie Nicks, War, Teddy Pendergrass, Def Leppard, Talking Heads, Luther Vandross, The Cars, Bad Company, Neil Sedaka, Alice Cooper and many more besides.

Meanwhile, the company has an interest in three of the top four songs at Spotify: Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" and "luther" f/SZA and the ROSÉ/Bruno Mars jam "APT."

Given the above, some have taken to calling PW a "mini-major." What they've taken to calling us, on the other hand, is unsuitable for printing in a family publication.
