TECCA REPORT: "DARK THOUGHTS," BIG ACTION

Galactic/Republic rapper Lil Tecca has a full-on heater with "Dark Thoughts," which has flown into the Top 10 on Spotify's U.S. chart, and, notably, the Top 40 on the global chart. The R&B-leaning jam dropped on 3/14.

The 22-year-old Queens native broke through in 2019 with "Ransom," which has racked up 1.6b Spotify streams worldwide. He's also seen big Spotify action on, among others cuts, "Love Me," "Lot of Me," "500 Lbs." and "Repeat It" f/Gunna. His most recent album, PLAN A, was released in September and bowed in the Top 10 with 42k.

The rise of "Dark Thoughts" coincides with a hip-hop resurgence on the DSPs, driven by the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Playboi Carti, Doechii and PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake.
