SONY MUSIC BRAZIL TAPS CABRAL DE MELLO AS CEO

March 27, 2025

Sony Music Entertainment Brazil has tapped Fernando Cabral de Mello as its new CEO as part of a larger restructuring of parent company Sony Music Latin Iberia.

The latter will now house Sony Music Brazil, Som Livre and a joint venture with ticketing and live-event company CTV Eventim, all of which will operate independently. Cabral de Mello will report to Sony Music Latin Iberia chairman/CEO Afo Verde.

"Brazil is a dynamic and ever-evolving market, and I am eager to collaborate with our talented teams to continue to deliver exceptional value to our artists, partners and fans,” said Cabral de Mello.

Added Verde, "Fernando is a proven leader with a deep understanding of this amazing country. We are excited to see him lead these talented teams and drive the future of music and entertainment in Brazil.”

Cabral de Mello started at Sony Music in 2005 and was most recently EVP of strategic partnerships for Latin Iberia. He also ran Latin Iberia's premium content division, which developed and produced numerous documentaries, films and TV series.

HITS will spend the next hour attempting to prepare a caipirinha in his honor.
