U.K. MIDWEEKS: CHAPPELL, LATHUMS, DOVES SOAR
Chappell Roan could land her long-awaited first #1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart this week with “Pink Pony Club” (Island), while The Lathums and Doves are both in hot pursuit of the top slot on the Albums roundup.
At midweek, “Pink Pony Club” is 1.3k chart units ahead of last week’s #1, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” (Interscope). Benson Boone’s former chart-topper, “Beautiful Things” (Warner), could re-enter at #3, while his newest tune, “Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else” could be the highest new entry, at #18.
Elsewhere, Teddy Swims’ “Bad Dreams” (Atlantic) nudges 16-9 and BTS member JIMIN’s “WHO” (Big Hit) rockets 44-19.
On Albums, less than 500 chart units separate The Lathums’ Matter Does Not Define (Modern Sky) and Doves’ Constellations for the Lonely (EMI North). Both groups have previously scored three consecutive #1s.
Architects could open at #3 with The Earth and All Between (Epitaph), and Oasis’ 2000 album, Standing on the Shoulders of Giants (Big Brother), is eyeing a #4 re-entry thanks to its 25th anniversary vinyl reissue. The Vamps' frontman, Bradley Simpson, is looking to open at #6 with his solo album The Panic Years (SME U.K. Limited).
Lola Young’s This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway (Island), which sports her #1 single, “Messy,” could return at #8 after peaking at #38. BLACKPINK member LISA is on track to premiere at #10 with her debut solo effort, Alter Ego (RCA).
