ASCAP has unveiled its "new" board of directors, with President/Chairman Paul Williams announcing that the 12 writer and 12 publisher members will begin their two-year terms on 4/1. Of the 24, the sole addition is songwriter Claudia Brant.
“It is both a privilege and a responsibility to be elected to the ASCAP board by our peers," Williams said. "The ASCAP board takes seriously our commitment to advocating for and protecting the value of our more than one million members’ music and upholding our principles of fairness and efficiency to maximize distributions. We welcome our newly elected songwriter Claudia Brant to join us in this mission.”
In addition to Williams, writer members re-elected in the at-large field are Jon Batiste, Desmond Child, Sharon Farber, Dan Foliart, Michelle Lewis, Terry Lewis, Marcus Miller, Jimmy Webb and Doug Wood. Composer Alex Shapiro was re-elected in the Symphonic and Concert field.
The publisher directors re-elected in the at-large field are: Sony Music Publishing's Peter Brodsky, Kobalt's Bob Bruderman, Mayimba Music's Marti Cuevas, Wrensong Publishing's Ree Guyer, BMG's Keith Hauprich, Lichelle Music Company's Dean Kay, UMPG's Evan Lamberg, Leeds Music's Leeds Levy, Cromwell Music's Irwin Z.
