AEG'S FOREST HILLS SHOW WILL GO ON
After months of tension and lawsuits threatened by neighborhood groups, New York City has given the green light to the 2025 slate of shows at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in residential Forest Hills, Queens.
The series will kick off 5/31 with a double bill of Blonde Redhead and Bloc Party (the latter marking the 20th anniversary of its album Silent Alarm). Tyler Childers, Mumford and Sons, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and Big Thief will also appear this summer, while the return of the All Things Go festival is set for 9/26-28.
An erroneous report last month in the New York Post claimed that yearslong community opposition had finally carried the day and that there would be no shows at the historic AEG Presents-booked venue this summer.
However, the NYPD affirmed the stadium's permits after finding that neighbors suffered no distress due to volume or crowds. Indeed, events at Forest Hills wrap far earlier than most concerts and often begin when it's still light outside.
Rumors that Forest Hills promoter Mike Luba jumped fully clothed into the backstage swimming pool in celebration of the news could not be confirmed at press time.
