CBS SNAGS VMAS

The MTV Video Music Awards are venturing outside the nest for the first time this year. The trophyfest will air on CBS in prime time on 9/7, with a simulcast slated for its usual MTV home.

This year’s installment will also stream on Paramount+, preceded by an hour-long live preshow from NYC-adjacent UBS Arena that will air on assorted Paramount Media Networks. Performers for that segment are TBA.

Last year’s VMAs, which aired on no fewer than 13 Paramount properties (but not CBS) generated a record 66.7m social interactions.

HITS has earned its share of interactions, but most were too unpleasant to share.
