U.K. CHARTS: WHAM!, SABRINA ARE #1 FOR CHRISTMAS

The U.K.’s Official Christmas #1s have been announced, with WHAM!’s “Last Christmas” (Epic) at the top of singles and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet (Island) leading the albums roundup.

“Last Christmas” is the first song to score the Christmas #1 in two consecutive years, following its 2023 victory. The track celebrated its 40th anniversary this year and is the most-streamed song (with 12.6m) and most-purchased, as a physical product, song of the week.

WHAM! is one of a few acts to achieve the Official Christmas #1 multiple times, following Queen (two), the Spice Girls (three), The Beatles (four) and LadBaby (five). Pictured above is surviving member Andrew Ridgeley; George Michael died in 2016.

Elsewhere on the singles tally, Gracie Abrams is at #2 with “That’s So True” (Interscope), followed by Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (Columbia) at #3.

Tom Grennan’s Amazon Original “It Can’t Be Christmas” (Insanity) charts at #4, while “APT.” (Atlantic) by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars rounds out the Top 5.

Rising British singer-songwriter Lola Young has her first Top 10 single, with “Messy” (Island) at #7.

On the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, Carpenter’s Short n' Sweet returns to #1 for a second nonconsecutive week, having initially topped the chart in September.

Michael Bublé’s Christmas (Reprise) settles for second place. Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (Island) rises three to #3. British rock band The Reytons have a third U.K. Top 10 album, with their self-released third set, Clifton Park, landing at #5.

Teddy Swims I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy: Part 1 (Warner Records) reaches a new peak at #12, and The Cure’s former #1, Songs of a Lost World (Polydor), re-enters the Top 20 at #17.

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s long-awaited reunion album, Missionary (Death Row/Aftermath/Interscope), debuts at #24.
