Myles Smith has won the 2025 BRITs Rising Star award after a breakthrough year that's seen a global hit, “Stargazing,” and sold-out tour.
Smith is the first winner to be announced for next year’s BRIT Awards, which will take place on 3/1 in London. He emerged victorious from a shortlist that also featured soul/R&B artist Elmiene and indie folk duo Good Neighbours.
After uploading cover songs to TikTok in 2020, Smith went viral in 2022 with his version of The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather” and then again with his take on Amber Run’s “I Found.” He thereafter released a handful of original songs, including “Solo” and “My Home,” and signed to RCA in 2023. The singer-songwriter is managed by Eric Parker and Paul Jeboda.
Released on 5/10, “Stargazing,” peaked at #4 in the U.K. and is the biggest global single by a British artist this year. It's banked more than 550m streams on Spotify alone. The track hit #1 at Top 40 and Hot AC radio this week, making Smith the first U.K. artist to reach #1 on all three major radio formats in the U.S. with a debut single ("Stargazing" previously hit #1 at Alternative). Overall, his catalog has surpassed 1.4b streams worldwide.
His recent EP, A Minute…, landed in November. In addition to "Stargazing," it includes the single “Nice to Meet You,” which charted at #12 in the U.K.
Looking ahead, Smith will perform 12/10 on the season 26 finale of NBC's The Voice. He'll embark on a sold-out U.K. tour in February before joining Ed Sheeran as support on the European leg of the Mathematics Tour.
