Taylor Swift was once again Spotify's biggest artist globally in 2024, with her 26.6b streams also the most in the U.S., followed by The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Drake and Billie Eilish. Per the streamer's annual Wrapped recap, Swift scored the most-streamed album globally with THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY.
Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” was the top song globally and in the U.S., pulling in more than 1.6b streams. In the second and third spots globally are Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” and Eilish’s “BIRDS OF A FEATHER,” respectively, followed by FloyyMenor & Cris Mj’s “Gata Only” at #4 and Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” at #5.
Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die With a Smile” was the Most Viral Global Song, with “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” at #2, “Beautiful Things” at #3, “Lose Control” at #4 and Chappell Roan's “Good Luck, Babe!” at #5.
Meanwhile, over half a billion people have listened to a podcast on Spotify since the DSP entered the space in 2019. The Joe Rogan Experience was the Top Podcast of the year globally, marking the fifth year in a row it has claimed the title.
New features of this year’s personalized user experience include AI-generated playlists and podcasts.
As always, artists can share total hours streamed, increases in listener numbers, how their top track performed around the world and other major milestones.
Additionally, Spotify launched its 2024 Wrapped Creator Experience for podcast creators, artists, advertisers and—new for 2024—authors.
