SLASH, DUFF JOIN GIBSON BAND FOR CHARITY TRACK

Slash and Duff McKagan are the latest artists to join forces with The Gibson Band, the charity collective formed by Gibson CEO Cesar Gueikian—in their case for the single “I Can Breathe,” which Gibson Records dropped on 12/3.

The song, which features lyrics and vocals from McKagan, lead guitar by Slash and rhythm guitar and piano by Gueikian, who wrote the music, was created for Giving Tuesday as a benefit for the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Gueikian said, “Guns N’ Roses had a profound influence on me and my guitar playing, so having the opportunity to write and record this song with Slash and Duff is a dream come true. It's an honor to call them friends and partners.”

In addressing his own contributions, McKagan added, “The musical slant and progressive rock-ness of this huge epic pushed me in a whole new direction. I love a challenge and Cesar killed it! Most importantly, to be of service for mental health issues and awareness is super important to me at this time. Let’s rock!”

Artwork for the single is based on "They're Coming," a large-scale painting by Serj Tankian, which will be auctioned off to benefit NAMI.
