Kendrick Lamar will score his fourth consecutive #1 album with GNX (pgLang/Interscope). The 12-song set is projected to generate 291k in activity, including 325m on-demand audio streams.
This gives Lamar an average of 27m streams per song—10m more per track than his previous release, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. The latter also racked up 325m streams in its first week, but with 19 tracks, its average was only 17m per song.
In the runner-up spot this week is Wicked: The Soundtrack (Verve/Republic), poised to log 109k in its debut. Additionally, Decca’s 15th anniversary edition of Wicked (Original Broadway Cast Recording), which came out in 2019, may currently be outside the Top 20, but it's expected to land 20-25k by week’s end.
As for Thanksgiving’s effect on these numbers? Industry observers are undecided. Given the holiday, projections this week may reflect a larger margin of error than usual.
Now, if you don't mind, it's time to get baked... er, we mean start baking for Thanksgiving.
