DAMIANO DAVID'S "BORN" IDENTITY

Arista's Damiano David, best known as the charismatic frontman of Grammy-nominated Roman rock band Måneskin, is reaching ears at multiple formats as a solo act thanks to single "Born With a Broken Heart."

The romantic, poppy cut, co-written with Jason Evigan, Mark Schick and Sarah Hudson, has gone Top 30 at Pop radio in just a few weeks and is streaming 700k per day worldwide. At Spotify, it's well on its way to 20m global streams.

The song has quickly found a home at Rock and Alternative, with iHeart soon to bestow its first multiformat On the Verge designation to "Born" while working it to both Alt and Hot AC in addition to Pop. The company has also booked David on its coveted ALTer Ego show at Kia Forum on 1/11 alongside format stars such as Cage the Elephant, Incubus and Glass Animals.

At a time when the airwaves are dominated by young female acts such as Sabrina Carpenter, Gracie Abrams and Chappell Roan, David is a unique presence, and here he showcases a winning vulnerability rather than rock & roll swagger—though he's clearly a star in any mode.

The video for "Born," which is chockablock with classic Hollywood tropes, finds David wearing a suit and owning the screen like a matinee idol—quite a pivot from his oft-shirtless motif in Måneskin. He also got a nice look performing the song on Fallon, and assorted red-carpet and other sightings with girlfriend Dove Cameron have helped keep his profile high both online and off.

Arista is hoping this increasing familiarity will help David stay in his fast lane and keep juicing "Born" through the holidays. In the meantime, the artist continues to make the promo rounds at spots such as SiriusXM, having recently dropped by the company's New York studio to record a new version of "Born" plus a cover of Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die With a Smile.” He'll also be in Miami next month for fashion-related events at Art Basel and a SiriusXM activation.

"Damiano has proved himself as a fearless, bold, and unique triple threat," Arista President/CEO David Massey says. "He's a true singer, songwriter and performer who has the talent, energy and innovation to conquer the world."

There's no release date yet for Damiano's debut solo LP, but we'll be parked outside his dressing room for updates.
