LATIN GRAMMYS LIONIZE PERSON OF THE YEAR CARLOS VIVES

Latin Grammy week got even hotter on Wednesday when some of the biggest names in Latin music gathered to honor Carlos Vives as the Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year.

More than 30 of the Colombian icon’s peers celebrated him with performances at the Miami gala, including Edgar Barrera, Gloria Estefan, Juanes, Ruben Blades and Alejandro Sanz.

Presenting the award, Manuel Abud, CEO of the Latin Recording Academy, said, “Carlos Vives has excelled for more than 30 years in his profession. He is a symbol of Colombian culture who has made the whole world dance. But beyond his undisputed success, he is a man with a very high humanitarian social commitment.”

Latin Grammy Week reaches its apex tonight (11/14) with its 25th iteration, which takes place at Miami’s Kaseya Center. Vives will perform alongside acts such as David Bisbal, Alejandro Fernández, Luis Fonsi, Juan Luis Guerra, Carín León, Elena Rose and Ela Taubert.

The ceremony airs on Univision, UniMás, Galavision and ViX beginning at 8pm ET.
