Universal Music Korea (UMK) has signed Korea-born, Los Angeles-based pop star HEYOON, marking a significant step in UMK’s strategy to develop local artists and help them find success on the global stage.
Best known as a member of Now United, HEYOON has performed in more than 30 countries and released over 100 singles/music videos combined, but is now focused on her solo career. HEYOON joins a roster that also includes DEAN, one of the most successful Korean alternative R&B artists.
"We are delighted to welcome HEYOON to Universal Music Korea. HEYOON is an incredible artist," Calvin Wong, CEO, Southeast Asia & SVP, Asia, UMG, said. "We are proud to be working together on this new chapter in her career and look forward to showcasing her remarkable talent as a solo artist to a global audience."
UMG EVP, Market Development Adam Granite added, “The Korean music scene is incredibly exciting right now and there is huge interest all around in the world in the new wave of Korean artists. HEYOON is an exciting and emerging global talent. I can’t wait to see what she will do next."
As for us, they're hoping the next thing we do is disappear.
