BUSINESS INSIDER AI LIST SALUTES SIR LUCIAN

UMG CEO Sir Lucian Grainge is in a league of his own per Business Insider's new AI Power List, on which he's not only the sole music-industry executive but the lone entertainment-industry executive.

BI salutes Grainge's willingness to embrace tech through the AI-related deals he's enacted with Endel, SoundLabs and BandLab; a partnership with ProRata.ai to compensate content owners for AI-generated work; and UMG's lawsuits against Anthropic, Suno and Udio over AI training models that use unauthorized copyrighted material.

Grainge was also credited for ensuring AI protections for UMG acts through new licensing deals with Meta and TikTok, the latter following the company's pulling its music from the platform earlier this year.

Go here for the full list, which BI says "maps out who really knows what they're talking about and who wields real power in the field," elaborating, "These people are working on a host of challenges and opportunities across AI, including making computing infrastructure more efficient, overcoming energy constraints and guiding how this technology will change the world."
