SPOTIFY FREE LAUNCHED IN SOUTH KOREA

Spotify has launched its free, ad-supported service in South Korea, a significant milestone since the streaming giant's entry into the market in 2021.

The "freemium" model, which boasts 626m+ users globally, allows listeners to access personalized playlists, editorial content and millions of podcast titles. It also affords advertisers new opportunities to reach a young, engaged audience.

“The launch of Spotify Free in South Korea is an exciting moment, not only for consumers but for artists and the industry at large,” said Gautam Talwar, Spotify GM, Asia Pacific. “We’re opening the door to every Korean listener to start discovering and connecting with millions of songs and podcasts with our technology and service, which means huge potential for new audiences, discoverability and ultimately, more revenue for artists.”

Since the platform's debut in South Korea, monthly streams of Korean artists have grown by 70%, reaching over 5.8 billion.
