ELENA ROSE'S ODE TO VENEZUELA

She’s written smashes for Becky G, Bad Bunny, Rauw Alejandro, KAROL G and many other global stars. Now, Warner Music Latina’s Elena Rose could land the biggest honor of her career as an artist with her ode to Venezuela, Latin Grammy Song of the Year contender “CARACAS EN EL 2000.”

Rose dropped the track, which features fellow Venezuelans Danny Ocean and Jerry Di, last October, along with a playful video that conjured the experience of growing up in Latin America at the dawn of the millennium.

The rhythmic pop cut is as catchy and breezy as any hit from Rose’s repertoire, but the political turmoil that's occurred in Venezuela since the era depicted in the video makes the song hit a little harder. By highlighting simpler times two decades past, “CARACAS EN EL 2000” also expresses hope for a return to a more peaceful climate.

Rose and Ocean have been vocal in protesting the recent election in Venezuela, which international monitors declared was neither free nor fair. The latter is also raising awareness of refugees—7.7 million Venezuelans were displaced in 2023. Judging by online comments, "CARACAS" also resonates with fans across Latin America, reminding those who’ve emigrated of their roots.

Since receiving the SOTY nod from the Latin Recording Academy last month, “CARACAS EN EL 2000” has had a resurgence on Spotify’s Venezuela chart, where it peaked at #3 last November.

Along with Song of the Year, Rose is nominated in Best Pop/Rock Song (for “Blanco y Negro”) and Best Regional Mexican Song (“Por el Contrario”).
