GRADUATION DAY FOR CASTILLO

The artist-development-focused music company Graduation has brought U.K. biz veteran Rich Castillo aboard as its new head of A&R. He’ll report directly to Graduation founder/CEO Charlie Lycett.

In addition to running point on A&R for the company, Castillo will launch his own label, Lionbear, which will be distribbed by Graduation’s label-services arm.

Castillo (pictured with arms crossed) previously served at Polydor, Atlantic and EMI in the U.K. and has worked with acts ranging from Elton John to Olivia Dean and Chase & Status.

The Firebird-affiliated Graduation has seen success with such acts as Brent Faiyaz, Sexyy Red, Cash Cobain, Nemzzz and, most recently, Kairo Keyz, who’s been making waves with the track “GANG.”

Castillo said he was looking forward to this new chapter, noting, “Charlie has built an incredible team of young execs that have driven the company so far. This next phase will make Graduation a destination for ambitious artists who want forward-thinking deals."

"Rich brings a wealth of experience and creativity to Graduation,” reads a quote from Lycett (also pictured) “His track record speaks for itself, and we’re excited to have him on board as we continue to push boundaries and create new opportunities for artists."

In other graduation news, our Duolingo streak has now reached one day.
