The Black Music Action Coalition held its annual gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in L.A. on Thursday (9/19), bringing together artists, executives, entrepreneurs and activists using their platforms to support social justice.
Among the evening's honorees were LL COOL J, who received the Clarence Avant Trailblazer Award, USHER, who was presented with the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award, and Live Nation, this year's BMAC 365 Award recipient.
Hosted by radio personality Kenny Burns, the event featured appearances by Bobby Brown, Taraji P. Henson and civil-rights attorney Ben Crump. Additional attendees included Fat Joe, Gunna, Flavor Flav, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Anthony Hamilton, TV producer Mona Scott Young, outgoing 300 Entertainment chief Kevin Liles and Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr.
Said BMAC President/CEO Willie "Prophet" Stiggers, “The BMAC Gala represents the intersection of activism and music. When most are turning down the volume around social, racial and economic justice, we’re doubling down and spotlighting the positive impact the music industry has made on society, which we hope to inspire further with this event."
