Kendrick Lamar quietly delivered the tentatively titled single "Watch the Party Die" via Instagram on 9/11, smack dab in the middle of the 2024 MTV VMAs. Even with more than 3 million likes, the song has yet to see an official release. Will the pgLang/Interscope wordplay wizard see fit to upload it to DSPs or is he perhaps saving it for an album?
Fans are wondering if he'll deliver a long-form project before February's Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, for which he'll be the program's first solo hip-hop headliner.
He's certainly been active of late, releasing four (yes, four) diss tracks aimed at Drake—five if you count his verse on Future & Metro Boomin's "Like That"—including the #1 "Not Like Us," with the quintet of songs reigniting one of rap's biggest beefs.
While we continue to dissect what is essentially a dissertation on how to lyrically obliterate your opponent, listen to "Watch the Party Die" below.
