JANE'S ADDICTION IN DOUBT AFTER ONSTAGE FIGHT

UPDATE: Jane's Addiction has canceled their 9/15 show in Bridgeport, Connecticut, following a shocking on-stage fight between band members on 9/13 in Boston.

"We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night," the group wrote on Instagram Stories. Stay tuned..

It’s not uncommon to go to a rock concert in Boston and witness a fight breaking out, but it sure is rare for that fight to happen onstage between members of a legendary band.

On Friday (9/13) at Leader Bank Pavilion, Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell nearly punched guitarist Dave Navarro during an on-stage outburst, leading several crew members and bassist Eric Avery to break up the melee and drag the singer off stage. The concert then abruptly ended.

Jane's was in the middle of performing the 1988 song "Ocean Size" when Farrell started angrily grunting and screaming “fuck you” into the microphone. A frantic and agitated Farrell then turned to Navarro, screamed in his face, threw his shoulder at him and launched a punch.

Perry’s wife Etty took to Instagram to play down the incident, claiming her husband was frustrated because the band's loud playing was impacting his ability to sing. "Clearly there had been a lot of tension and animosity between the members," she wrote. "The magic that made the band so dynamic. Well, the dynamite was lit. Perry got up in Dave's face and body-checked him."

Jane’s is in the middle of a North American reunion tour, its first since 2010 with the original lineup of Farrell, Navarro, Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins. The band, whose members have a long and well-documented history of drug and alcohol abuse, has been on the road since May and has at least 15 more shows booked, including Sunday (9/15) in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

As of now, there's no word from management (Michael James and Peter Katsis) or promoter Live Nation on whether the tour will continue.
