Jessica Simpson is the subject of an upcoming documentary produced by Gunpowder & Sky. Described as "raw and intimate," the multi-part doc will reflect on the highs and lows of her career as well as elements of her life that have never been shared with the public. It will also feature interviews with Simpson and members of her close circle.
"In releasing my memoir, Open Book, I was moved to learn just how much people saw themselves in my story," Simpson noted. "I am ready to share a lot that has happened in my life since that book was published, including an artistic journey and return to music inspired by pain and betrayal as well as beauty and forgiveness."
The film promises a behind-the-scenes look at how the Jessica Simpson Collection has become the most successful celebrity licensing brand in history in addition to insights on her religious upbringing, how she overcame not just her divorce from 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey but also her parents' divorce.
"Having had the pleasure of meeting Jessica while I was at MTV - during her burgeoning music career and amidst the tempest that surrounded her during Newlyweds - I've seen her bravely wear her heart on her sleeve and punch back with unyielding honesty," Gunpowder & Sky CEO Van Toffler said. "Her journey, like most great novels, has seen the highest peaks and profound valleys, yet through it all, she has persisted and flourished."
Meanwhile, we just continue to flounder. Pictured are Simpson and Toffler.
